ReviewThe films of Alex De Renzy have consistently been among the best in the adult film industry, being entertaining, humorous and decently-constructed. Baby Face 2 is the sequel (apparently in name only) to his popular 1977 classic Baby Face, and, well, it's a strange film indeed. Baby Face 2 is narrated by cute little Candy Evans, who tells of a very peculiar bachelorette party. A group of girls throws this party for the soon-to-be-married friend, hire a male stripper as the entertainment, and are utterly astounded when the stripper (Jamie Gillis) turns out to be nothing more than a drunk, utterly disheveled, underwear-wearing bum. Or so they think. The girls mock Jamie's appearance and pathetic performance, but Jamie gets the last laugh - it turns out that he possesses supernatural powers and he puts a spell on all the girls in the house, turning them into utterly insatiable sex fiends. Before long, the boyfriends get wind of what's going on and step in for the rescue...and I'm sure you can imagine what happens. Taija Rae, Lois Ayers, Stacey Donovan, Melissa Melendez, Careena Collins, Kristara Barrington, Lynn Francis, Dick Rambone, Jerry Butler and Tom Byron are the other featured performers, and they all use their real names within the film's storyline. Baby Face 2 isn't one of De Renzy's best efforts, but it still has a decent storyline and plenty of that "wicky-wicky" stuff you look for in adult features. Released on disc by LaserDisc Entertainment and VCA Pictures, Baby Face 2 has a so-so transfer. Baby Face 2 is one of those rare adult films to be shot on 35mm film, but the print used for this transfer has a consistently soft, faded and somewhat worn quality to it. CAV side two contains three steady still frames followed by two jittery frames. The CX-encoded digital monaural soundtrack suffices. Baby Face 2 was pressed at Pioneer, is Table of Contents encoded, and contains five listed chapter markers (contrary to the listing on the jacket, side two contains chapter #5; it does not reset to #1). |
